Here’s a More Affordable Way to Get Botox® Results

You’ve heard of Botox® for smoothing facial wrinkles. At Everglow Medical Spa in Cincinnati, we offer a more affordable “botox” treatment called Xeomin. (Xeomin is to Botox as Advil® is to Motrin®).

Botox and Xeomin use the same injectable neurotoxin: botulinum toxin type A. Both types of neurotoxin treatments work by stopping nerve impulses to the muscles, causing them to slacken. As a result, your expression softens.

The procedure is quick, usually taking only a few minutes, and requires minimal downtime. While the effects are temporary, many people find the results well worth it.

How Neurotox can improve your appearance

Neurotox helps Everglow Medical Spa patients improve their appearance, not only through a more youthful look, but also by alleviating a “concerned” look. After a treatment, you may look refreshed or even more friendly. At Everglow, we most often treat areas where muscles influence your facial features, such as:

  • Frown lines
  • “Crow’s feet” around the eyes
  • Creases in the forehead
  • Creases in mouth corners
  • A chin appearing “cobblestoned”

In addition to smoothing wrinkles, neurotoxin injectables can also improve the overall look of the skin by smoothing texture irregularities.

Neurotox can also help with excessive sweating. Injections of botulinum type A disrupt the nerve impulses that activate your sweat glands, helping relieve embarrassment from extreme sweating in the underarms, hands or feet.

If you are bothered by prominent vertical neck bands, Neurotox can relax the appropriate muscles and give your neck a more even appearance.

Choosing a provider for your Neurotox treatment

You want a provider who understands facial anatomy, has a well-developed aesthetic eye, and surgical skill and precision.

Whomever you choose, make sure your provider has a proven background in cosmetic medicine as well as training and substantial experience giving patients botulinum toxin treatments.

Consider asking to see photos (Befores and Afters) of the provider’s patients. If an assistant will be performing your injections, they should work closely under the supervision of a qualified physician.

What to expect during your treatment visit

Your first treatment will start with a consult, during which you will meet with your doctor to discuss what you want from the treatment.

During your consultation, your provider will evaluate your area of concern and go over your medical history.

Just before the treatment, you may be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area, though many patients find this unnecessary, as the needles used are very thin and the injections are not very deep.

Most patients describe a feeling like a pinch when the needle enters the skin, though not much pain.

You will be able to return your normal activities right away, but your cosmetic surgeon may ask you to take the day off from exercise or other strenuous activity, and to keep your head upright for the rest of the day.

Keep in mind, you will not see results immediately. Depending on the person and facial area injected, final results are usually reached around a week after the initial treatment.

How long do results last?

Effects vary, but results will typically last anywhere from 3 to 6 months. To maintain your results, your doctor may offer to repeat the treatment, adjusting dosage and techniques as necessary to ensure optimal results.
